We live 10 minutes from the centre of Málaga and I have to say that for the little ones, it helps to be within walking distance of parks and other places of interest. One of great things that we enjoy doing is to walk the Gibralfaro trail.
When the weather is nice, we usually go for a walk or have a picnic as if we were in a British meadow. Occasionally, a squirrel may come up close to say hello.
It is a beautiful, spacious setting for hiking or walking free from noise and crowds. It can be accessed via the junction of Camino Nuevo with Camino de Gibralfaro or from Calle Victoria going up the hill towards Calle Mundo Nuevo.
It has easy access and is worth going on foot. If you like to walk, this trail, which is well signposted, leads you to the Castillo de Gibralfaro, another Málaga landmark which is well worth a visit and which is also spacious, great if you have children with you.
Following the signposts which are located at various points along the walk (colour coded according to difficulty), you find yourself in the middle of an adventure searching for walls and finally the castle. There is even a park for the children with a table at which you can enjoy a snack in the open air.
I hope you enjoy it!
